the 17th Annual Electronic Music Midwest
Festival, featuring SPLICE Ensemble, to be
held September 21-23, 2017 at Kansas City
Kansas Community College.
Each concert will feature an 8.1 speaker diffusion system. The acclaimed SPLICE Ensemble
is the 2017 featured ensemble and composers are encouraged to submit works for their
CFP: “Practicing Intersectionality in Popular Music Scholarship and Pedagogy”

One-year lecturer position in composition at Washington University in St. Louis. We are seeking a composer, composer-theorist, or composer-performer who can contribute to our growing undergraduate composition program and offer additional courses in musicianship and music theory. The anticipated teaching assignments are as follows: Fall 2017 (composition workshop/lessons, Musicianship I, undergraduate-level Classical Theory I); Spring 2018 (composition workshop/lessons, Musicianship II, graduate-level Analysis II).

The Guitar Workshop for Composers – part of the 9th Academic Guitar Symposium EMBAP/UNESPAR (Brazil) – will be lead by composer Felipe de Almeida Ribeiro and guitar performer Eric Moreira, both members of the Ensemble Mobile (Brazil). IGNITE, C4’s Commissioning Competition, will give three finalists the opportunity to compose new works for C4: the Choral Composer/Conductor Collective. All three pieces will be premiered in June 2018, in New York City. Prior to the performance, first, second, and third place winners will be chosen, with awards of $1,500, $1,000, and $600 respectively.

Founded in 1973, Garth Newel Music Center (www.garthnewel.org) is one of the most active chamber music organizations in the country. Its resident ensemble—the Garth Newel Piano Quartet—performs over 60 concerts annually both at the Center and on tour. Through this competition, the Quartet seeks to broaden the piano quartet repertoire and to support the Center’s ongoing commitment to contemporary music.

The Orchestre d’Auvergne and the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie are organizing a composition contest for the creation of a participative piece for amateur singers.
This will be a short piece for string orchestra and amateur singers.

Bay Colony Brass is pleased to announce its 1st Annual Call for Scores. Bay Colony Brass (BCB) is one of the few large brass ensembles (or brass choirs) of its kind in the United States. Composed of twenty players, the group performs a broad range of repertoire spanning five centuries of brass and orchestral music. Bay Colony Brass is a volunteer organization and registered 501c3 nonprofit in Massachusetts.

The Encore Wind Ensemble proudly presents the Charles B. Olson Young Composers Contest. This contest has been created to encourage the developing young composer 15-22 years of age, and promote the performance of high quality wind band literature in honor of the Encore Wind Ensemble’s founding conductor, Charles B. Olson. Entries must be original unpublished compositions for wind ensemble, 5-8 minutes in length, utilizing standard wind band instrumentation.
