2017 BEAMS Marathon Weekend Festival
March 15th - 17th, 2018 - Brandeis University
The Brandeis University Music Department, in conjunction with New Music Brandeis, are pleased to announce the 2017 BEAMS (Brandeis Electro Acoustic Music Studio) Marathon Weekend Festival. This festival will bring together composers, performers, and artists working with electronics and/or video from all corners of New England for a weekend full of concerts, workshops, demonstrations, and panels.

Jury Chairman: Krystof Penderecki. The Competition is open to composers of all nationalities, who on 20 October 2017 are still under the age of 35. Candidates should submit a composition for string orchestra, with the possible addition of 1 flute (or piccolo), 1 oboe, 1 clarinet (in B flat or in A), 1 trumpet, percussions (one player). The story is very traditional in an overt sense: royalty, murder, revenge, but the script takes a microscope to the characters and pushes the play to an edgy limit. MISE-EN_PLACE Bushwick will host electro-acoustic music concerts during Bushwick Open Studios 2017 (9/23-9/24). Selected composers are not required to attend all the events unless they need to be a performer and/or operator. However, everyone is encouraged to join us. All events will be free and open to the public. You may only send one piece per category.
